Willie Solomon destroys Cajasol

Cajasol lost at home (72-76) against Hapoel Jerusalem in the secound round of Eurocup. A great game by Willie Solomon and Sam Clancy made the comeback of Cajasol after a bad first half impossible. Kriksay and Urtasun were the best players for the home team.

Cajasol started the game very well, scoring easily, while Hapoel hardly managed to follow the pace. Things changed in the second quarter when Willie Solomon started to take control. Moreover, Paul Davis was completely out of the game, so it was even more difficult for Cajasol to score. Hapoel even got a 11-points advantage, thanks to Salomon, Clancy scoring inside and a great defence.

In the second half Cajasol started like a train, and they almost managed to tie the game. But Oded Kattash called for a time-out, maybe a little bit late, but soon enough to remind his team to play like they have been doing it all the time. Satoranski did his best, but he can’t play all the game without any help while Yogev Ohayon proved surely to be the future starting point guard of Israeli National Team, thanks to his very confident game and some baskets at crucial moments.

Only Kirksay played at his normal level. Specially strange was the performance of both Bullock and Davis, the main scorers of the Cajasol. They both had a really disastrous game for a combined 3/12 shooting card.

In the end, some bad decisions avoided Cajasol to win the game, while Rich scored some definitive free-throws to close the match. Next week Cajasol will play at home against VEF riga while Hapoel Jerusalem will face CEZ Nymburk on the road.
