In an interview with FIBA, Dennis Schroder talked about Germany and his expectations ahead of the 2019 World Cup.

Here is what the Oklahoma City Thunder guard said:

On Germany competing in the World Cup: “I think we can be a pretty tough team to beat. We will go to China with ambitions and we aren’t afraid of trying to have a good run next summer at the FIBA World Cup. We are not going to China for fun.”

On his expectations for these matches: “We are going there to compete against the best teams and players of the world. It’s going to be great, and we are all excited to be there and play at our highest level representing Germany.”

Schroder was the team’s undisputed leader during the WC Qualifiers, averaging 23.5 points, 7.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. He will likely not play in the rest of the Qualifiers, yet he helped his team secure its spot in the World Cup.

Germany, Greece and the Czech Republic are the three European national teams that have already qualified to the 2019 World Cup.
