EuroLeague CEO, Jordi Bertomeu, talked to the Greek TV channel, Cosmote TV, about the “Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament” and his conflict with the “Greens”.
Here is what the 59-year-old executive said:
On his return to Athens for the “Pavlos Giannakopoulos Tournament”: “It’s always good to be at a country with so much passion about basketball and two big clubs like Panathinaikos and Olympiacos.”
On the late Pavlos Giannakopoulos: “I was happy to be his friend for years. When he passed away, we lost one of the biggest personalities in the history not only of the Greek but also of European basketball. He made Panathinaikos a powerhouse with six EuroLeague titles.”
On the conflict with the “Greens: “These things happen, but everything belongs to the past. What really counts is tomorrow, no matter what happened in the past. Everyone makes mistakes and we hope that we can learn from those mistakes.”
