Bulgaria shocked France, remained alive in the qualification race

Bulgaria put an end to France’s undefeated streak in the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers. The hosts beat the French team (74-68) and boosted their chances to advance to the World Cup.

Dee Bost had 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners, with Aleksandar Vezenkov adding nine points and eight rebounds.

On the other hand, Nicolas Batum had 17 points, five rebounds and five assists for France, who suffered their first defeat in the WC Qualifiers (6-1 record). 

It was a close game until the fourth quarter, with 19 lead changes. Bulgaria held France scoreless for nearly four minutes in the end and closed the game with a 10-2 run to claim the victory.

France will host Finland on September 16, while Bulgaria (3-4 record) will visit Moscow to face Russia.
