Current Denver Nuggets General Manager Arturas Karnisovas turned down the opportunity to become a GM of the Philadelphia 76ers. According to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer, an interview between Sixers and Karnisovas was scheduled this week, but former Lithuanian basketball star decided to continue his work in Denver Nuggets.
Early on Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks showed interest in Karnisovas as a General Manager as well. Later on Sixers will meet other possible candidates including Elton Brand, Ned Cohen, Marc Eversley and Alex Rucker.
Becoming Sixers head of staff is a very challenging job. On the one hand team’s expectations are very high in the near future, on the other hand having future Hall of famers – Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons – you can definitely create your own super team.
Especially knowing that the Eastern conference looks weaker and the Sixers have some versatility with their salary cap. But it seems that Karnisovas prefers to reach stardom with his own Nuggets young talents.
