24/8/2008: The day that Spain almost shocked Team USA

On this day in 2008 (24/8), Spain came very close to beating Team USA and winning the gold medal in the Olympic Games.

The Spaniards were competitive from the opening tip and fought until the end to win the game.

However, Team USA stood tall in the end and claimed the 118-107 victory to return to the top of international basketball after almost a decade.
