EuroLeague veterans Kostas Sloukas and Nick Calathes in Greece squad

Greece have named a strong 24-man roster for the third window of the FIBA World Cup qualifiers, which begins on June 28.

Sacramento Kings center Kostas Koufos, who last played for Greece at the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Turin, has also been named among the 24 but fellow NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo of the  Milwaukee Bucks has not.

Like Koufos, Antetokounmpo last represented his country two years ago at the OQT.

Greece will take on Israel in Tel Aviv on June 28 and then at Estonia in Tallinn on July 2.

Sloukas and Calathes, two of the best guards in Europe, performed well at last summer’s Eurobasket.

Sloukas was a scintillating 17 of 29 from three-point range at the tournament. His best game came against Lithuania in the round of 16, with a performance that lifted Greece in the last eight.

In his own right, Calathes also had a string of strong performances. He had 24 points and 10 assists in a Eurobasket group game triumph over Poland, 14 points and 6 assists in the win over Lithuania and 25 points in Greece’s narrow defeat to Russia in the quarter-finals.
