Sydney Kings announce Andrew Bogut without finalising the paperwork

Sunday’s announcement of Andrew Bogut’s arrival at the Sydney Kings has been met with a problem.

The Kings, who made the announcement themselves had not submitted the necessary paperwork to the Australian NBL, with the signing not 100 percent official just yet.

The slight hitch is a PR blunder from the Kings, as it’s customary for journalists to leak breaking news instead of the sporting teams themselves, however, it shouldn’t ruin Bogut’s imminent arrival at the club.

Last month, Bogut announced he would not return to the NBA for the remainder of the 2017-18 season because he wanted to stay in Australia with his pregnant wife. He has since hinted a move back to his homeland within the last fortnight.

The 33-year-old became the first Australian to be the NBA’s number one draft pick when he was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2005.

After seven seasons in Milwaukee, he was traded to Golden State Warriors, where he won an NBA title in 2015.
