It’s fair to say that Ben Simmons has not just helped the process but he has been the process for a rejuvenated Philadelphia 76ers team that will be appearing in their first NBA Playoffs since 2012.
Simmons has averaged 15.8 points a game along with 8.1 rebounds and 8.1 assists this season plus the Aussie is shooting a solid 54.1 percent from the field.
The 21-year-old guided the Sixers to a convincing win over the Brooklyn Nets in the early hours of this morning as he scored 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as well as dishing out six assists.
And the youngster’s performances this season have caught the eye of many, including Sixers legend Julius Erving who believes that Simmons’ on-court attributes make his team better.
“Once-in-a-decade, maybe once-in-a-lifetime-type player,” Erving said to ESPN. “He’s able to make everybody better immediately each and every time down the floor, guys are spotting up or looking to cut or keying off of triggers that come out of his handling skills.”
“Sometimes it looks like he’s got eyes in the back of his head,” Erving said, “because he sees and feels one of his guys making a run to the hoop or spotting up at certain positions. That’s just a gifted player that we are very fortunate to have on our team.”
