Los Angeles Clippers guard Milos Teodosic has settled into his role in the NBA but he still holds the Serbian national team close to his heart.

Teodosic’s long-awaited NBA debut has been successful but with the new found responsibilities, means that he has to miss the new FIBA international windows, which began in November and carried on in February.

But the playmaker is confident that he can still be able to represent the national during the June windows when the NBA season has concluded.

Serbia currently sits in second place of their FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 qualifying group with a 3-1 record.

“Yes, yes, of course. I hope to play as well in the qualification games,” Teodosic said in an interview to Sportklub.

As is the case for many NBA players, these new windows, which FIBA have stood behind and said that they are here to stay until 2021. Teodosic has joined the bandwagon by not approving of the new system.

“In this qualification system, basketball only loses because of the lesser quality,” Teodosic explains.

“FIBA might have imagined that in those windows Bogdan Bogdanovic, Nemanja Bjelica and all the EuroLeague players will be present, but this is simply not possible because we have also our season. I hope we will come to a solution and stop things looking like this.”
