Ioannis Bourousis: If I can stand, then I’ll play for Greece

It includes an exhausting, around the world trip but representing Greece is something Ioannis Bourousis would not miss for anything.

Bourousis, who plays his basketball in China for the Zhejiang Lions does a 14,500 kilometre-round trip to join Greece before heading back to East Asia.

“As long as I can stand on my legs, I will be a member of the national team,” the 34-year-old said to FIBA.

“I have zero reasons not to be part of the team because I feel amazing every time I play for Greece. The national team is my second home.”

Bourousis had 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the team’s 87-75 home win over Estonia, which improved their World Cup qualifying record to 3-0. They face Great Britain (0-3) in Crete on Sunday.
