Maroussi did the surprise and under total secrecy managed to sign and announce American combo guard Dewarick Spencer for the next two seasons.

Spencer had proposals from France and Germany, but in the end chose Maroussi due to its participation in Euroleague and the chance to play in a top-notch league like Greek A1.

Spencer became professional in europe in 2007 after graduating from college and signed for Roanne who he led to their first championship in his second season there being the top scorer of French LNB with 20.6 points per game.

He then moved to Virtus Bologna with whom he played in the Euroleague for the first time and was even the competition’s second best scorer with 18.1 points. At the end of the season he moved to Efes Pilsen to replace Drew Nicholas.

In the summer of 2008 he returned back to France, this time for LeMans. He led the team both in French LNB and Euroleague while he averaged 17.6 points last season with his team in Eurocup.

Maroussi has also offered a new 1-year deal to Billy Keys who could create a great duo with Spencer in the Athens-suburbs team’s backcourt.
