It was the shot heard around Athens, but Panathinaikos’ Nick Calathes wasn’t even sure that his game-winning lay-up against Zalgiris was going in.

To add, Calathes had a woeful shooting night, going just 3/13 from the field. The Greek international scored the majority of his points from the free throw line, as he recorded 14 points, nine assists and eight rebounds.

But his game-winning lay-up secured a 94-93 overtime win over the Lithuanian giants.

“I didn’t [know I was going to make the game-winning shot],” Calathes said.

“I just tried to get the shot up in time and it fell in. I couldn’t make a shot in the second half. They are a good team, they battled us the whole game. We knew it was going to be close. We’re just happy to get the win.”
