You would think that fans of the France national side and its players would be excited at the prospect of Philadelphia 76ers big Joel Embiid representing them.
One France international doesn’t share the sentiment though – and he is an NBA player.
Orlando Magic Player and France international Evan Fournier is not best pleased with the recent news that Joel Embiid is interested in joining the French.
“Stop with the articles on Joel in the French national team please, it becomes ridiculously serious,” Fournier wrote in a tweet, translated in French.
“For me playing for a country with which you have no ties is disturbing. The national team is not just a sporting challenge,” Fournier also tweeted.

Embiid was born in Cameroon and moved to the United States at the age of 16.
While in London for the NBA game against the Boston Celtics, he recently said that he has family that reside in France, however, there’s no other connection with him and the country.
