As TalkBasket reported some days ago Olympiacos have announced the signing of Slovenian Rasho Nesterovic for the next two years.

Although the player holds a Greek passport in order to be registered as a Greek player in the Greek A1 league Nesterovic should join Greek army first, so the club chose to register Nesterovic as a Bosman player instead.

The player stated about his signing:
“I feel great to be returning to Europe and all the more to a team that wants to win trophies. That’s why I’m returning anyway”, were ‘Rassos’ first words, who is the third addition of the year for the Olympiacos roster.

What does the experienced center think about the two previous signings? “They are both great. Spanoulis is simply the MVP and Nielsen is the player that any coach and any team wants in their roster”.

He doesn’t, however, know only about the new transfers, he also knows about the old players: “When a team has reached two consecutive Final Fours, it means that it’s a very good team. Olympiacos has built a great basic roster and they have been making small additions every year. I think that this is the secret for a team that wants to succeed. I hope that I along with the rest of the new guys can add what’s been missing and make the European top”, Nesterovic stressed and added: “It’s tough to predict in the summer where you can be ten months later. A season is much larger and with many more obstacles than the people think. There are many good teams and it certainly be important how we blend together during the year”.

As for what has brought him to Piraeus? “Olympiacos is one of the greatest teams in Europe and that was the first thing that was important to me. The presence of coach Ivkovic is equally important and the third reason is that after 12 years in the NBA I need to win titles. I miss that feeling and that’s why I came. To feel this, experience it…”
