Marko Guduric: If you listen to Obradovic, you won’t make mistakes

Fenerbahce’s Marko Guduric opened up about coach Zeljko Obradovic, explaining that if you listen to what he says, you will not make mistakes in his eyes.

The 22-year-old signed a four-year deal with the EuroLeague champions in the summer, after spending the last two years with Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda, where he averaged career bests throughout the stat sheet.

But from the moment Guduric arrived in Istanbul, Obradovic, the most successful coach in EuroLeague history, already had various plans laid out for him.

“They told me how things going on here and what Obradovic wants me to do,” Guduric said to Serbian outlet Sport Klub. “The organisation in here is amazing. So players can easily focus on the court.

”Zeljko is a coach who dedicated himself to his work. He is paying attention to details. I haven’t worked with so many coaches yet but I can say that Obradovic is different because of these details.”

After averaging 7.8 points, 2.1 rebounds in 18 minutes on the court for Crvena Zvezda last season, Guduric, a defensive specialist became an integral part of the system at Red Star. And it was the defensive style of his play that attracted Obradovic.

”I think I’m doing my best [on] defence,” Guduric admitted. “However, we had a different offence system in Crvena Zvezda. Every player in starting five of this team has the capacity to put 20 points in every game. I already realised that and it’s not that hard for me to acknowledge my role.”

Guduric also revealed that during his early days in Istanbul in the summer, he and team-mate Nikola Kalinic spoke about Obradovic. ”Kalinic told me that I just have to listen what Obradovic says,” The youngster revealed.

“If you do what Obradovic says, you never make mistakes. The most important thing is to acknowledge what you do in practice and reflect them to the games.”

Guduric averages 4.3 points a game in the EuroLeague for Fenerbahce this season, starting in seven of the holders’ 15 games so far.
