Sergey Bazarevich offered new deal with Russian national side

After guiding Russia to fourth place at this year’s Eurobasket, Sergey Bazarevich has been offered to sign a new deal with the national side.

No promises have been made yet though, but Russian Federation president Andrei Kirilenko has met with Bazarevich who coached a Russia side who overcame a challenging five-year period where he went from Olympic bronze at London 2012 to back-to-back elimination at the Eurobasket group stages in 2013 and 2015.

“We did not discuss a new contract,” Kirilenko stressed. “We discussed the desire to work together further. I was worried by his exit interview at Eurobasket.

“Bazarevich said he wanted to finish his experience. But for me it is important to hear that he wants to continue to work with the team.”

The two sides will discuss the details of the new contract soon.
