Amar’e Stoudemire retires from basketball

Amar’e Stoudemire, a former six-time NBA All-Star and Israeli league champion has announced his retirement from basketball.

The 34-year-old’s Winner League triumph was his final act as a player as he brings a glittering career that spanned 15 years to an end.

Stoudemire not only secured six All-Star placements, he also won the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2003 and was on the All-EuroCup roster for last season.

The veteran spent 14 years in the NBA with spells at the Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks, before ending his career at Hapoel Jerusalem.
