Sergio Scariolo: As days go on, we are improving more

Spain’s Eurobasket preparations have not gone as smoothly as they had planned especially with Sergio Llull’s ACL injury ending not only his international duty but also his EuroLeague campaign with Real Madrid.

Despite the setback, Spain have still looked ominous in their prep games, and at times have not even got out of second gear. Convincing wins over Tunisia, Senegal and Venezuela have set up the European champions perfectly for Eurobasket as they are heavily favoured to progress from Group C with hosts Romania, Croatia, Montenegro, Czech Republic and Hungry providing the Spaniards with their first match-ups.

“As the days go by, we improve more,” Scariolo said. “I see my players having the right attitude, there’s a great mentality in the team and the goals are clear. Now everyone knows their role in the team and what they have to do.

“We have a lot of options available and this is going to help us at the competition.”

Spain have named their final roster ahead of Eurobasket with star-studded names such as Pau and Marc Gasol, Juan Carlos Navarro, Ricky Rubio, Sergio Rodriguez amongst the players included.
