Milos Teodosic reflects on difficult choice to miss EuroBasket

Milos Teodosic made his debut for the Serbian national team at Eurobasket 2007 and has since not reported an absence on the line of international duty.

But with his move to the Los Angeles Clippers, mixed with a demanding NBA schedule that he will face, his fitness has come under question and Teodosic’s calf injury has been a bother, so much so that he feels it’s best to let the niggling calf problem to heal.

“It was extremely difficult for me to make this decision and pull out of the Eurobasket, after many years spent with the jersey of the Serbian national team, Teodosic put on his Facebook page.

“After consulting with a doctor (of the LA Clippers) and the head coach (Sasa Djordjevic), I realized that I wouldn’t be able to help my teammates, although my desire for this is always great. The calf issue is more complicated than I thought. I believed that I would be able to play even though the doctor’s prognosis was different.

“At this moment, the most important thing is that we all give our support to the guys who travel to Istanbul and that people only talk about them. Not about us who are hurt. The atmosphere is great, the quality is always there and there is no reason to give your support, which they will certainly justify.”
