Lietkabelis Panevezys adds two-time EuroCup champion

Lietkabelis Panevezys added very valuable 7DAYS EuroCup experience to its roster by signing small forward Simas Jasaitis to a one-year deal, the club announced Friday.

Jasaitis (2.02 meters, 35 years old) arrives from VL Pesaro, where he averaged 5.8 points and 2.9 rebounds in 28 Italian League games last season.

He is a two-time EuroCup champion, as Jasaitis lifted the trophy with Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius in 2005 and with Russian powerhouse Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar in 2013.

He started his career in his native Lithuania, playing for Marciulionis BS and Sakalai Vilnius before joining Rytas in 2002. He also helped Rytas win two Lithuanian League titles in 2002 and 2006, as well as lifting the Baltic League trophy also in 2006.

The Lithuanian veteran  has also played for Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel, Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz and Joventut Badalona of Spain, Galatasaray Istanbul and Turk Telekom Ankara of Turkey, as well as for Capo d’Orlando of Italy.

He also won the Spanish League title with Baskonia in 2008, as well as being a member of the Lithuanian national team, getting respective bronze medals at EuroBasket 2007 and the 2010 FIBA World Cup. Jasaitis averages 10.3 points and four rebounds in 61 EuroCup career games with Rytas, Galatasaray and Lokomotiv.
