Cedi Osman heads to Cavaliers; many fans unsure on who he is

Cleveland Cavaliers have made the signing of Turkish international Cedi Osman official.

Osman signs a three-year deal worth a reported $8.5million. He heads to the 2015 NBA champions after five seasons with Anadolu Efes.

The 22-year-old, Macedonian-born guard/forward averaged 13.2 points on 49.6 shooting, 4.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals in the Turkish league last season.

He also competed in 35 Euroleague contests this past season, averaging 7.1 points and 2.8 rebounds a game.

His signing though as been met with criticism by the Cavaliers fans, who have so far endured a rough off-season since losing the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors.

Many Cavalier fans have not heard of the Turkish international, who was a late second round pick on the 2015 NBA Draft with his rights going to Cleveland, as seen on the replies on the team’s official Twitter feed.

There have been some positive responses about Osman’s signing, most notably from Twitter users from Turkey who have highlighted the former-Anadolu Efes star’s all-round attributes and the skills he can bring to the Cavaliers franchise.

Osman will no doubt benefit from the experience and greatness of LeBron James, for whom the two play in the same positions. Osman will not see the minutes in Cleveland that he did in Istanbul but he will learn a lot from one of the best players in the world.
