Cleveland Cavaliers sign Jose Calderon

Cleveland Cavaliers have officially signed Spanish veteran Jose Calderon.

The point guard split last season between the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Hawks, averaging 3.4 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 13.1 minutes over 41 games (13 starts).

He also appeared in six playoff contests with Atlanta, averaging 4.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 12.5 minutes.

A native of Villanueva de la Serena, Spain, Calderón originally went undrafted in the 2003 NBA Draft and played six seasons in Spain before beginning his NBA playing career with the Toronto Raptors in 2005. He has played 13 seasons in the league, since.

He has represented his home country at four Olympic Games (2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016), earning silver medals in 2008 and 2012 and a bronze medal in 2016.

He brings a veteran presence to the point guard spot for the Cavaliers and will no doubt be used as a spark off the bench.
