Derrick Signs for 15th season

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv’s captain in perpetuity, Derrick Sharp, has signed for one more year with the club for his fifteenth straight season, at age 39!

Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv is proud to announce that team captain Derrick Sharp will continue to play for the team next season, 2010 – 2011.It will mark his fifteenth straight season with the club.

Coach David Blatt had this to say today: “The decision as to whether Derrick would continue with Maccabi was one of the easiest I’ve needed to make; it was completely clear to me that Sharp must stay on the team.

Derrick personifies all of the qualities we want to see in Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv’s players: ability, character, stability, continuity, success, ambition, and an affinity for tradition and symbolism.

“Throughout the years, Derrick has, first and foremost, considered the good of the team, and never thought of himself, even though he has been personally involved in many of Maccabi’s biggest successes.

Derrick is loved by everyone – the players, the staff, the fans – and I am sure he will contribute a lot this season, both on and off the court.”
