Giannakis officially history for Olympiacos

After 2.5 years at the helm of the team Panagiotis Giannakis is officially history for Olympiacos which announced that they will not be renewing his contract.

The official statement of Olympiacos BC: “Olympiacos BC sincerely thanks Mr. Panagiotis Giannakis for the 2.5 years of collaboration with him, as a head coach of our team. During his reign Olympiacos won the 2009/10 Greek Cup, took part in two Euroleague Final fours after 10 years and also played in Euroleague final this year, after 13 years.

We wish from the bottom of our hearts to Mr. Panagiotis Giannakis the best of luck in his career in the basketball field.”

Giannakis has won 1 Greek Cup and also lost 3 Greek A1 finals, 2 Greek Cup finals, 1 Final Four final, 1 Final Four semi-final and 1 Euroleague quarter finals during his 2.5 years of career at Olympiacos.

Olympiacos is already looking for a new coach with priorities being Ettore Messina while the names of Dusan Ivkovic, Svetislav Pesic, Simone Pianigiani, Sergio Scariolo, Dusko Vujosevic and Dusko Ivanovic have all come up, among others.
