Maccabi signs Foote and Kadir

Maccabi Tel Aviv is very active on the transfer market and announced two transfers, that of Israeli Elishay Kadir and American Jeff Foote. Kadir comes from Galil while Foote from Cornell University (NCAA).

After signing, Kadir said: “I’m very happy to have reached this place and this moment. It’s something you dream about since childhood, and suddenly it becomes a reality. I had an amazing year with Galil and I won’t ever forget the team, the fans, the staff, and the management, and especially the coach, Oded Katash. I’m happy to be starting something new and good with Maccabi Tel Aviv and hope to contribute a lot and to be an important part of what’s being built here.”

Shimo Mihrazi, chairman of the club, stated: “It was a businesslike negotiation, and we’re happy that it concluded successfully. This is another very important signing of an Israeli player following the return of Tal Burstein Maccabi. We at Maccabi Tel Aviv are very happy to sign young, high quality, dynamic players like Elishay, and I’m sure he’ll find a warm home with us.”

Kadir (22, 203cm) began his career with Maccabi Ramat Gan, where he played from 2005 to 2008 for both the youth and senior teams. He then moved to Hapoel Gilboa Galil for the 2008/09 season. This past season was a break-through year for him, when he was named Winne League Most Vluable Player and helped his team win the Israeli Championship. In 22 league games, he averaged 14.2 points (68.7% 2p), pulled down 5.9 rebounds and finished with an overall index score average of 16.3.

As a player on the Under-21 Israeli National Team, Kadir finished, together with Omri Casspi, in sixth place in the European Championship, where he scored an average of 13 points and took 4.4 rebounds. The outstanding forward is a member of the current Israeli National Team and will be playing in the preliminary round in Europe this summer.

Jeff Foote (22 years old, 212cm) on the other hand signed a three years contract. No financial details were made known and it is unknown whether he will remain in the squad or given out on a loan to get experience first.
