After another meeting with the club’s President Shimon Mizrahi it now became official. Pini Gershon will not be Maccabi’s coach next season. By his contract Gershon was supposed to continue for two more seasons but after losing the championship in the final game against Galil-Gilboa (90-77) it was decided.
The official source says it was Gershon’s decision. Yesterday Gershon also had a meeting with Maccabi owners and left angry, probably, after he was asked to sign and ethic code after a few incidents he had this year. In today’s meeting as expected Gershon was fired. Gershon will probably continue working for the club as a General Manager.
In Israel the rumours say the candidates to replace him are his assistant coach last season, Sharon Drucker, David Blatt or Oded Katash, who beat Maccabi with Galil in the championship game this season.
