Rio Monbus claimed one of European basketball’s biggest upsets as they defeated Real Madrid 90-83 in Santiago.
This is the fourth defeat in the last five games for the defending league champions who are now locked in a three-way tie for third with a 16 – 7 record.
Eimantas Bendzius scored 21 points for the winners.
The other two teams involved in the three-way tie for third are Barcelona and Baskonia.
Barcelona ran out comfortable 76-56 winners in the Catalan Derby against Joventut Badalona with Petteri Koponen and Stratos Perperoglou scoring 19 points each.
Baskonia had a weekend off.
The Liga Endesa’s top two faced off in round 25 with Valencia securing a narrow 65-62 win over league leaders Tenerife.
Bojan Dubjlevic paced the winners with 17 points in a vital victory.
