Olympiacos full of praise to young Partizan squad

OlympiacosOlympiacos head coach, Panagiotis Giannakis was full of praise for his side’s patience and passion after their overtime success over Partizan on Friday night.

The Greeks beat their Serbian opposition, 83-80 in a thrilling Final Four encounter in Paris, to ensure they would meet Regal FC Barcelona in Sunday’s final and relegate Partizan to a 3rd/4th place game against CSKA Moscow.

Coach Giannakis though, heaped praise on the young Partizan side, that came within seconds of knocking Olympiacos out of the final.

“The Partizan team that had made such surprises all year played with the same passion to try to win against us. Of course we were the favourite. We knew that and it put added pressure on us.” Said Giannakis.

“As for my players, I think they had a good balance between patience and passion. It was a wonderful victory for my team.”

Olympiacos guard, Milos Teodosic was gracious for Josh Childress’ help in the last seconds of regulation for his dunk off Teodosic’s woeful three-pointer.

“I think I owe Josh my life for saving me.” The Serb joked.

“I tried to win the game, but I saw my shot going to the left, and I didn’t know what to think, but all of a sudden Josh came out of nowhere and dunked it.

“Luck always has something to do with the game, and today luck was on our side. I hope we’ll have it with us also on Sunday night.” Teodosic said.

Center, Nikola Vujcic is looking forward to his first Euroleague final with Olympiacos and is determined to win on Sunday.

“This will be my first Euroleague final with Olympiacos and it’s going to be very exciting. Now I want to win the title with them.” Vujcic commented.

“We play as one unit and we want to get this title for our fans, who support us all the time. It’s just one more game to have a great finish to a great season.”
