Barcelona gained a measure of revenge on Baskonia with a deserved 92-84 win on the road as the Catalan side kept their ground close to the league leaders Real Madrid, who had the weekend off after round 19 of the Liga Endesa.

After suffering a sound 93-79 beating at the hands of their rivals from Vitoria in the EuroLeague, Barca came into this encounter a wounded animal, keeping in the match until they took the lead late on in the second quarter, leading 41-35 and never looking back.

The visitors always looked in control throughout the second half and led by Ante Tomic’s 21 points, sealed a needed win that keeps them in touch, albeit in third place, one win behind the league’s surprise package, Tenerife.

For Tenerife though, they know that only victories will keep them in their unprecedented position in second spot. They secured a narrow 82-76 win at struggling Real Betis.

Fernando San Emeterio hit 13 points as Valencia kept their cool to beat Gran Canaria 86-81. The win consolidates their position in fourth as the road to the Copa del Rey draws nearer.
