British Basketball League round up 2016-17 (week 12)

Cheshire Phoenix returned to winning ways and climbed two spots in the table after beating Manchester Giants on Sunday.
Colin O’Reilly’s side raced out of the blocks with 41 points in the opening period en route to a 103-83 victory as Frank Eaves top scored with 21 points on debut.
Josh Wilcher added a double-double of 14 points and 13 assists and was pleased Nix picked up an important win.
“It was a big win and one we needed in the standings,” declared Wilcher.
“We played well, we moved the ball well and that was how we need to play.
“Any time you can put up 41 points in a quarter, you are putting the other team in trouble.
“We were a bit fired up, came out fighting and everything seemed to go our way which was nice.”
It was a huge double-winning weekend on the road for Newcastle Eagles as they defeated Leicester Riders and London Lions.
Fab Flournoy’s side impressed in a 73-92 win against Leicester live on BBC Sport behind a combined 50 points from Deondre Parks and Rahmon Fletcher.
Parks then scored five of the final six points on Sunday as the Eagles claimed an 80-87 success in the first leg of their BBL Cup Semi-Final clash in London.
Meanwhile, Glasgow Rocks were handed their second league defeat as Surrey Scorchers came from behind to pull off a 77-75 victory with Quincy Taylor netting the game-winner with four seconds to go.
Taylor finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and five assists to put an end to the Rocks’ 12-game winning streak.
Bristol Flyers ended their wait for a second league win as Aaron Cosby netted 28 points on his home debut in a 96-79 victory over Leeds Force.
