British Basketball League round up 2016-17 (week 11)

Glasgow Rocks will contest the 2017 BBL Cup Final after overcoming Surrey Scorchers at the weekend.

Sterling Davis’ side held on for a 79-81 road win in Guildford on Friday before completing a 168-152 aggregate victory two days later.

Neil Watson and Kieron Achara both recorded double-doubles in an 87-73 home win as the Rocks took their club-record win streak to 12 games.

Watson dished out 10 assists, while Achara hauled down 17 boards with a total of seven players reaching double figures in points for the home side.

“We knew that we had the team to win this Semi-Final,” said Rocks’ guard, Hayden Lescault.

[Surrey] gave us a great game at their place and they are a great team, but I think we have something special this year in Glasgow.

“We knew we had a couple of sets that would be very difficult for them to defend and we were able to execute them down the stretch.”

Meanwhile, the only BBL Championship game to take place this weekend was broadcast live on the BBC Sport website with Worcester Wolves beating Bristol Flyers, 88-56.

Maurice Walker was a handful in the paint and finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds in a convincing display from the Wolves as they picked up their fifth league win of the season.

Paul James celebrated his 500th BBL win as a coach with Worcester inflicting another loss on the Flyers, who remain rooted to the bottom of the standings.
