Barcelona ended Real Madrid’s unbeaten run in the Liga Endesa with an 85-75 victory in the first el’ Clasico of the season at the Palau Blaugrana in European basketball’s biggest fixture.

Ante Tomic finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, Stratos Perperoglou added 18 and Tyrese Rice amassed 16 as the Catalan side’s lead peaked at 14 points after three quarters and despite a fightback from the reigning Liga Endesa champions, Barca survived.

Dontaye Draper had 13 points for Real Madrid.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona own 5-1 records but they still trail the early leaders Tenerife, who also were victorious over the weekend, beating Estudiantes 81-72 at home.

Fran Vazquez, Javier Beiran and Aaron Doornekamp all scored 13 points for Tenerife in the win as they improve to 6-1.

Baskonia complete the top four as they eased past Manresa 82-69 with Jaka Blazic posting 17 points for the victors.
