In the first quarter of action for Round 2 of the 2016-17 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Regular Season, Vassilis Spanoulis of Olympiacos Piraeus made history by scoring the 3,000th point of his EuroLeague career.

At the week’s end, he remains in the headlines as the MVP for Round 2. Spanoulis shined with 17 points and 9 assists in leading the Reds to a 90-66 home victory over Anadolu Efes Istanbul.

He also drew 9 fouls in collecting a performance index rating of 26, which was the best among all players from winning teams in Round 2. Spanoulis is ranked second in competition history with 3,013 career points. With 965 assists, he is just 12 away from being second in that category too.

The weekly leaders in index rating were teammates Austin Daye and Alex Tyus of Galatasaray Odeabank Istanbul, which lost at home 83-85 to Crvena Zvezda mts Belgrade. The duo each posted indexes of 27. Daye amassed 24 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals, while Tyus posted 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 blocks. Rounding out the list of Round 2’s best were Leo Westermann of Zalgiris Kaunas, teammates Nikos Zisis and Nicolo Melli of Brose Bamberg, Cedi Osman of Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Coty Clarke of Unics Kazan,

Marko Simonovic of Crvena Zvezda and Andrey Vorontsevich of CSKA Moscow, all of whom recorded index ratings of 24.
