Baskonia Vitoria Gasteiz has signed rookie shooting guard Trevor Cooney to a two-month deal with a team option to extend the contract for the remainder of the season.
Cooney (1.93 meters, 24 years old) had spent the past month on trial with Baskonia and scored 17 points in 22 minutes in a preseason fixture on Monday.
He arrives from Syracuse University, where Cooney averaged 12.9 points last season in helping the Orange reach the NCAA final four. He finished his college career ranked third on the school’s all-time three-point shooting charts with 281 threes.
He has also played for the USA national team at the Under-18 level.
