Memphis Grizzlies big man Marc Gasol has been cleared medically after breaking his foot in February against the Portland Trailblazers.

It means that Gasol will be able to join the Grizzlies for the start of training camp, which is due to begin next week. It has been reported that Gasol recently returned to Memphis for strength and conditioning and was also playing pickup games, according to sources with knowledge of his progress.

The 31-year-old was unable to compete for Spain at this summer’s Rio Olympics due to the injury. Spain captured the bronze medal with Marc’s brother Pau holding the Marc Gasol Spanish jersey as a mark of respect.

Grizzlies will hold its annual media day on September 26, which Gasol is expected to be in attendance in preparation for the new season.
