It was a mixed campaign for the Golden State Warriors in 2015/16. Steve Kerr’s men, led by the inspirational Stephen Curry once again, won 73 of their 82 regular season fixtures to break the 1996 Chicago Bulls’ long-standing record.
Twelve months ago, the Bulls were widely regarded as the greatest basketball franchise of all-time but Curry and co are now in with a fantastic chance of going down as the supreme side in NBA history.
Even if the Warriors don’t manage to topple the Bulls on a wider scale, Curry will certainly be regarded as an all-time great. This season, he became the first player to be voted as the unanimous MVP during the regular campaign – an achievement that should stand him in good stead to go down as the GOAT.
If Curry can fire the Warriors to another NBA title, it will do his chances of individual glory absolutely no harm at all… and with Golden State hurting after last season’s series defeat, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Kerr’s side challenging deep into the postseason.

As of September 12th, the NBA schedule is out and fans from all over the world will be excited for the beginning of the new campaign in October. Only a few months have passed since the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated Golden State in Game 7 of the NBA Finals series but that is far too long – basketball supporters are desperate for the sport to return. And the Warriors will also be keen for the new season; after all, they are aiming to write a few wrongs on their way to more silverware.
The Warriors are overwhelming 8/13 favourites with 32Red to win the NBA Finals and Kerr’s men will be even better prepared this season. Golden State acted almost immediately after the shock defeat to Cleveland to build ahead of the new campaign, signing former MVP Kevin Durant from the Oklahoma City Thunder.
With yet another huge personality on their roster, the Warriors look well placed to win the title; and they could even break their 73-9 regular season record. As bizarre as it sounds, it isn’t beyond the realms of possibility – as NBA fan Maxon claimed on Twitter after Durant’s arrival at Oracle Arena.

According to ESPN First Take, Curry is already the fourth-best point guard in NBA history – an astonishing achievement. Last season, the 28-year-old averaged a league-leading 30.1 points per game and scored 401 three-pointers; 126 more successful efforts than his closest rival.
And Curry was also instrumental on the defensive side of the ball, finishing at the top of the rankings with 169 steals – and he was on the court for less than 36 minutes per game.
Let’s be honest, Golden State are scarily good… on paper.
However, last season’s NBA Finals defeat to the Cavaliers will serve as a reminder that the Warriors cannot afford to get complacent ahead of the new campaign and Curry may be set for additional game time this year.
If Curry performs at his very best for the entire season, he could set plenty of NBA records and fans will be excited to see the two-time regular campaign Most Valuable Player in action. As of September 12th, Steph is 3/1 with 32Red to win the MVP award once again, although he will face stiff competition from Russell Westbrook and LeBron James.
With Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors firing on all cylinders, Steve Kerr’s men are almost destined for glory – that’s how good the player is. Durant’s addition gives them another elite weapon in their ranks and the Warriors will be targeting their regular season record of 73 victories. And if Curry performs at his best, Golden State will be champions. It is as simple as that.
