Charles Barkley explains why casinos reward him despite gambling wins

NBA legend Charles Barkley revealed how casinos encourage him to return by offering luxury benefits, including private jets and expensive champagne, even when he wins money gambling.

Barkley explained that casino operators are not particularly concerned about individual losses because they expect frequent customers to return and eventually give back their winnings.

“We don’t care when you win. We like it when you win. You know why? You’re going to come back.”

The former NBA star recalled a conversation with a casino host who explained that his main responsibility was to ensure Barkley continued visiting the establishment.

“He says, ‘My job as your host is just to get you here as many times as possible because we’re going to win.’”

Barkley said he was initially surprised by the explanation, but the host pointed to the casino industry’s profitability as evidence that the business ultimately benefits from repeat customers.

“And I said, ‘What?’ He says, ‘They don’t build these pretty-ass buildings because people are winning. We like it when you win because we know you definitely going to come back.’”

According to Barkley, casinos use expensive gifts and exclusive services to maintain relationships with high-profile gamblers and encourage them to return regularly.

“My job as your host is just to get you here as many times as possible. We’re going to give you all the toys and trinkets.’”

Those incentives can include private transportation and complimentary luxury items, although Barkley acknowledged that the benefits come with a financial reality.

“They going to send a private jet for you… And he’s like, ‘You get all this free crap that ain’t free if you lose.’”
