The LSU Tigers have received a boost ahead of the college basketball season, with guard/forward Saliou Niang officially cleared to compete in NCAA games.

Niang’s eligibility had been uncertain because he was previously selected in the NBA Draft, making him one of several players seeking to enter college basketball after being drafted by an NBA franchise.

The 6-foot-5 wing was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft but continued his professional career in Europe.

Last season, Niang played for Virtus Bologna in Italy, averaging 8.4 points and 5.2 rebounds across 76 appearances in all competitions.
