Fourteen players from the 2023 NBA Draft class will enter the 2026-27 season without contract extensions after Monday’s deadline passed.
Of the 23 players who entered the offseason eligible for extensions, seven signed new agreements and two, Cam Whitmore and Jordan Hawkins, were waived.
The remaining 14 players could become restricted free agents in the summer of 2027 if they finish their current contracts and receive qualifying offers.
The group includes Anthony Black, Noah Clowney, Bilal Coulibaly, Gradey Dick, Scoot Henderson, Taylor Hendricks, and Jaime Jaquez Jr.
Dereck Lively II, Kris Murray, Marcus Sasser, Brice Sensabaugh, Ben Sheppard, Julian Strawther and Jarace Walker also failed to reach agreements.
Black and Jaquez are among the players who could secure substantial contracts next offseason, while Coulibaly, Henderson and Lively have opportunities to increase their value if they remain healthy.
Lively is still recovering from foot surgery, while Strawther is expected to miss at least six weeks because of a knee sprain.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn remains optimistic about Clowney’s development.
According to Brian Lewis of The New York Post, the Nets have been “encouraged by his combination of length, shooting, and ability to get to the foul line.”
