Kyshawn George has emerged as one of the Washington Wizards’ most highly regarded young players, with NBA scouts highlighting his versatility, defensive potential and ability to contribute in multiple roles.

Josh Robbins of The Athletic reported that scouts view the 22-year-old wing as Washington’s top young prospect behind No. 1 overall pick AJ Dybantsa.

“When you talk to people around in the league, he’s the name that comes up,” one scout said, according to Robbins. “Of all their young guys (other than Dybantsa), he goes to the top of the list.”

Another scout described George as a player who fits the modern NBA’s demands, pointing to his versatility, connectivity and defensive potential. A separate evaluation suggested George could develop into a starter on a good team at minimum.

George has made significant progress during his first two NBA seasons. After averaging 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 68 games as a rookie in 2024-25, he increased his production to 14.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 48 appearances last season. He started all 48 games, shooting 43.8% from the field and 38.1% from three-point range.

His performance during the 2026 preseason has provided further evidence of his offensive development. George averaged 15.3 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists across four games, including a 21-point outing against the Brooklyn Nets on October 12. He made all three of his three-point attempts and finished with 28 efficiency points in that game.

George has also been used as a primary ballhandler when Trae Young rests during preseason games. Robbins noted that it remains unclear whether head coach Brian Keefe will continue deploying him in that role during the regular season, although George frequently operated as a point forward last season.

Dybantsa and George headline a young Washington group that also includes Bub Carrington, Bilal Coulibaly, AJ Johnson, Will Riley, Justin Champagnie and Tre Mann. Scouts have expressed interest in several of those players, particularly George and Riley.

The Wizards finished 17-65 last season before selecting Dybantsa first overall and re-signing Young to a four-year, $212.8 million contract. Washington opens its 2026-27 regular season at home against the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday, with George entering the campaign as one of the organization’s most promising young players.
