The Dallas Mavericks have exercised the third-year rookie scale team option on Cooper Flagg’s contract, securing the young forward for the 2027-28 NBA season.
The decision comes as Flagg prepares to enter his second NBA campaign, having already established himself as a central figure in the Mavericks’ long-term plans.
By picking up the option, Dallas ensures that Flagg will remain under contract for at least another season beyond the upcoming campaign.
The move also provides the organization with additional stability as it continues building around its young franchise cornerstone.
Flagg, the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, quickly became one of the most important players on the Mavericks’ roster.
The decision comes ahead of the league’s deadline for exercising rookie scale team options for the following season.
NBA teams have until Monday, November 2, to make those decisions.
The deadline typically falls on October 31, but it has been extended this year because the original date falls on a weekend.
