San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama has strengthened his position as the NBA’s most desirable franchise cornerstone, receiving a record 93% of the votes in the league’s 25th annual General Manager Survey.
NBA executives overwhelmingly selected the 22-year-old as the player they would most want to build a franchise around, improving on the 83% he received last season.
The result represents the highest percentage ever recorded in this category, surpassing Wembanyama’s previous mark.
Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Dallas Mavericks forward Cooper Flagg were the only other players to receive votes.
Wembanyama has now led the category for three consecutive seasons, having received 77% of the votes in 2024-25 and 83% in 2025-26.
His latest result also puts him ahead of several legendary players who previously dominated the survey.
LeBron James received 90% of the votes in 2013-14, while Giannis Antetokounmpo earned 86% in 2019-20. Anthony Davis also received 86% in 2015-16.
Wembanyama’s dominance extended beyond the franchise-building question, as he finished first in eight categories in this year’s survey.
The Spurs star received 97% of the votes for both the NBA’s best defensive player and best interior defender.
He was also selected as the league’s most versatile player and the player who forces opposing coaches to make the most adjustments.
Despite those results, Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic remained ahead of Wembanyama in two categories.
Jokic received 63% of the votes for the NBA’s best center, compared to Wembanyama’s 37%.
The Serbian star also narrowly led the best international player category, receiving 53% of the votes against Wembanyama’s 47%.
