The Milwaukee Bucks have weighed potential trades involving guard Kevin Porter Jr. and Caris LeVert, Jake Fischer reported for The Stein Line on Thursday, Oct. 15. Fischer’s sources said the aim is to “avoid simply releasing players under contract.”

Porter, 26, is in the final year of a two-year, $10.5 million contract. He averaged 17.4 points, 7.4 assists and 5.2 rebounds in 33.2 minutes last season and started 36 of 38 games.

The assists and his 2.2 steals were career highs, and the scoring was his best since 19.2 points per game for Houston in 2022-23.

LeVert, 32, is in the final year of a two-year, $28.9 million contract. He averaged 7.4 points in 19.2 minutes for Detroit last season, his lowest scoring average in 10 NBA seasons, and made 33.3% of his threes.

He joined Milwaukee from Detroit in July.

The Bucks also traded Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami on July 6 for Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, Kasparas Jakucionis and the No. 13 pick, used on Nate Ament.

Milwaukee took Brayden Burries 10th and signed Gary Trent Jr. to a four-year, $64 million deal. Ousmane Dieng received a three-year, $17.25 million contract.

In the same report, Fischer said the Bucks and Lakers have held exploratory talks on a swap of Dalton Knecht and second-round draft capital for Jericho Sims. He also heard pessimism that it will go through.

Teams must cut to 15 standard contracts by 5 p.m. ET on Monday, Oct. 19.
