Darussafaka Dogus Istanbul announced on Friday a contract extension with big man Semih Erden for another season.

Erden (2.13 meters, 30 years old) played with Darussafaka last season after many years away since his debut. He averaged 9.0 points and 4.8 rebounds in 24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague games, 22 of them as a starter in the team that reached the Top 16. He had similar numbers in the Turkish League.

He had previously played in Fenerbahce Istanbul for five seasons, with a two-season parenthesis in Anadolu Efes Istanbul also. He started his European career in 2004 with Partizan Belgrade, but he made his debut with Darussafaka in 2003.

“I am very happy to sign up for another season with Darussafaka Dogus.” Erden said. “We want to continue this season our rise as a team. We further strengthened our roster. We are confident that we will achieve our goals at the end of this season under our new coach David Blatt.”
