Kyrie Irving to play against Houston Rockets

Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving is expected to return to action this weekend after an extended absence caused by a serious knee injury, head coach Dusty May confirmed.

Irving has been sidelined since March 2025, when he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). His recovery was subsequently complicated by a calf strain in December, which delayed his rehabilitation by approximately eight weeks.

The additional setback eventually led Dallas to rule Irving out for the remainder of the season, extending his time away from competitive basketball.

The Mavericks are now preparing to face the Houston Rockets in two games in China this weekend, with Irving expected to participate in one of those matchups.

May confirmed that the veteran guard will make an appearance during the trip but said the coaching staff has yet to decide which of the two games will mark his return.
