The young and inexperienced squad of Partizan was no match for NBA-semifinalists Denver Nuggets in the opening game of the Euroleague American Tour 2009, held in Colorado, USA.
The Serbs only put in a fight up until midway in the second quarter, but were betrayed by their own poor shooting-percentage (0/13 3pointers in the first half), which allowed the Nuggets to pull away and go to the break up by 17 (50-33).
In the second half, Partizan's shots kept being out of target, the young Serbian players kept turning the ball over (40 turnovers overall!!) and the margin even sky-rocketed at 36 points. On a bright note for Partizan, newcomer Aleks Maric showed some teeth, as he scored 16 points and downed 21 rebounds.
The Nuggets were led by Carmelo Anthony who had 17 points and Arron Afflalo added another 15.
