Enes Kanter Freedom rejected reports claiming he is ineligible for the WNBA draft when Sean Hannity raised the issue during their interview.
“It’s fake news,” Freedom said, maintaining that he has not received any official notice from the league saying he cannot participate in the draft.
The former NBA center declared for the WNBA draft after identifying as a woman, saying his decision is based on following the league’s existing eligibility rules while drawing attention to the debate surrounding women’s sports.
Freedom also made clear that he would respect a change in the rules.
He said that if the WNBA introduced an explicit policy limiting eligibility to biological women, he would immediately remove himself from draft consideration.
