Klay Thompson is giving the Miami Heat additional financial flexibility with his new contract before making his debut for the team.

Thompson reportedly signed a two-year, $11.5 million deal, which is $1.5 million below the $13 million figure initially reported.

His contract will begin at approximately $5.6 million for the 2026-27 season. That structure leaves Miami around $5.2 million below the first-apron hard cap.

With veteran minimum contracts costing just under $2.5 million, the Heat now have enough room to carry a full 15-player standard roster if they choose.

Under the previously reported $13 million deal, Miami would have had space for only one additional minimum contract.

The Heat could still begin the season with the 15th roster spot vacant, but Thompson’s lower salary gives the organization more flexibility to add another player later.
