LDLC ASVEL announced the signing of former first-round NBA draft pick TyTy Washington on Monday, adding another point guard to a roster that has undergone extensive changes ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Washington, 24, arrives in Villeurbanne after appearing in 74 NBA games across four seasons with the Houston Rockets, Milwaukee Bucks, Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Clippers. ASVEL said he will wear No. 3 and make his first move to European basketball and the EuroLeague.
The 29th overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Washington spent his rookie season with Houston, appearing in 31 games and making two starts. He averaged 4.7 points and 1.5 assists in 14.0 minutes per game.
Washington’s NBA opportunities became more limited over the following three seasons. He played 11 games for Milwaukee in 2023-24, 16 for Phoenix in 2024-25 and another 16 for the Clippers last season.
In his 16 appearances with Los Angeles in 2025-26, Washington averaged 1.3 points and 1.1 assists in 5.5 minutes. Across his four NBA seasons, he posted career averages of 2.9 points and 1.1 assists in 9.4 minutes per game.
ASVEL described Washington as a creative and explosive guard with strong passing ability, capable of creating his own shot and organizing the offense. His signing gives head coach Pierric Poupet another option in a backcourt that already includes several experienced ball-handlers.
The signing adds another point guard to an extensively restructured ASVEL roster. The club has addied Patty Mills, Tremont Waters and Hugo Besson as part of a major overhaul that followed an 8-30 EuroLeague campaign.
ASVEL finished last in the 20-team 2025-26 EuroLeague regular-season standings, posting a 21.1% winning percentage and a minus-281 point differential. Their 2-17 road record was the weakest away mark in the competition.
